Well, this is my last quarter in school. I'm delighted - finally the end of this seemingly interminable thing is in sight.

Of course, this quarter already has frustrations.

First, my graduation paperwork went slightly awry. I got in touch with the two offices which originate the paperwork, then emailed the department which processes the graduation check paperwork, then RE-emailed the people who had the papers and had them re-fax the forms ... and now the grad-check department is confirming that I've taken everything I need.

The other issue is much bigger. I have run out of financial aid. The university has capped the total number of units they'll cover with aid money - this includes the Pell Grant. For me, that total is 270. I'm at 271 as of the end of last quarter. This means they want me to pay for this quarter. That's $2200!

I can start an appeal, but the only appeals process seems to be for people who've been bumped from FA for failure to maintain Academic Standing. As I'm in good academic standing, this doesn't seem quite relevant. I will, of course, be trying the appeals process.

However, I'm also thinking of just dropping the digital photography course I signed up for in order to be over the 12 units required for full-time enrollment. That will put me at 11 units, which is still 3/4 time. I think there's a lower flat rate for 3/4 time enrollment, which would be great - I'd like to save money if I can.

There's no way I can go below the 3/4 limit, because the three required courses I'm taking this quarter total 9 units which is the lower end of the 3/4 time enrollment.

I'm going in early to talk to the FA people tomorrow morning. Wish me luck?
