For my dorky photography class, we have to write a 500 word essay. This is what the syllabus says about the assignment:

"Social Justice/Critical Theme is a broad topic which will start with this essay and end up as part of a class photography assignment. Within the broad umbrella of subjects that this topic covers, you can narrow down and choose a subject important to you. Many possible topics exist both nationally and locally, for example, the rise in student loan debt and the cost of college, global warming, among others. The goal of this essay is to clarify and consolidate your ideas which will be used in the upcoming project based on the use of words and images together to express a point of view. For your 500-word essay:

For the first paragraph, so explain your topic, why it is important and what your point of view is.
The next paragraphs should be about important ideas and information about your topic
The last paragraph should be your conclusion about the topic. "

One girl is going to say something about the fact that even though other people don't like sororities, she does. I have no idea what other students are planning. There are photos from previous years' classes up in the hall; many people seem to write about things like homelessness and anxiety. I, uh, seem to have taken a different route.

(And I just couldn't help myself. 500 words? Ooookay - I have written five paragraphs, each one hundred words exactly.)
